What's more interesting than My Outfit is the statue

'Standing Woman' - Gaston Lachaise, 1932 @ UCLA's Sculpture Garden

The statue symbolizes to me to embrace what you got and don't be ashamed of your body
Living in LA, I've always been trying to get "skinny".
I'm 5'10", 170lbs with hips, thighs and butt
When I say I am trying, I mean I do it within reason (I think)
I workout almost everyday, eat somewhat healthy
except for my daily vodka & limeade
and an occasional pizza, hamburger and fries,
eggs and sausage, steak and spinach dip, Taco Bell, Carl's Jr. Jack in the Box...
Ha!
Really, I work out for my mental sanity.

Back to My Outfit
With My Outfit, I wore this necklace I made, which I feel elevates My Outfit from tomboyish to casual chic

  4. I think Patti is right about this sculpture--magnificent. I think you hold a confidence in your stance also. It is in all your pictures and your beautiful and bold jewelry has a powerful presence.

    1. Thank you, Alicia. I'm just being truthful about my internal battle. It's not all the time but it definitely flares up now and then.

  7. Yeah, the daily vodka and limeade will melt the pounds off! I've never been one to diet, or work out for that matter. I figure I eat fairly healthy, and I feel healthier if I enjoy myself.

Great photos! I've always loved that statue (it's in all the art history books) for the way she looks so strong and confident. And I love the pictures with you and the statue together. Art and living art!

    1. Yep, enjoying yourself is the best way to go thru life. I've become more aware of this as I get older. In my 20's always worried about finding a man, 30's had a man but worried about getting married, now in my 40's, I still worry but I work on not worrying about stuff and concentrate on enjoying myself. Thanks, Val

  10. I love the statue and how you posed beside it. Two strong beautiful women not ashamed of their curves.

    1. Danke Sabine. Ich mag meinen Koerper, aber manchmal ist es 'Hollywood' und TV, die einen fühlen sich schlecht macht. Viele Frauen fuehlen sich die gleiche. Es ist nicht gut, aber ist es wahr.

  13. She's a beauty and so are you! Truly lovely in your simple outfit that is completely elevated by your perfect jewelry.
This has been a good half-century or so for women to embrace their shapes, in spite of all the pressure to do otherwise. Let us hope the celebration of diversity in all forms continues. I'm not just round ... I'm short and round. Tall girls always have more fun, I just know it. There is some grace, though in knowing that you'll never be tall. No hope, no illusions! Wanting to be thin is different, because it is possible. Not always desirable.
Rest assured, our Zalina, that you have it all and creativity plus.

    1. You are so sweet. Remember that old saying, "the grass is always greener on the other side". I know it's not true, but somehow that tends to be our problem thinking this. I agree with you, let's make sure we embrace everyone's figure. Believe it or not, I envy "shorter" women too but again it's wanting what you don't have and not appreciating what we do have. You're awesome, Jan and I am always inspired by your blog. Thank you.
