How I Wear MY PEACE of jewelry - Goomba beads

Image
White "Goomba" Porcelin Trade Beads from West Africa. They are dingy white in color and have a nice patina and lots of character.   The term "Trade Beads" typically applies to beads made predominately in Venice and Bohemia and other European countries from the late 1400s through to the early 1900s and traded in Africa and the Americas. These beads aren't used for "trading". They are used to make my beautiful PEACEs. These beads, I paired with an African brass pendant     Necklace is 30" long and can be pulled over your head or closed with a clasp.   Me not being the fancy dresser, I wore MY PEACE with a pair of my favorite Levi's They are too big, but just right, worn-in jeans that I bought from a thrift store for 5 bucks. In the fancy world of fashion, these are called my "boyfriend" jeans, without paying hundreds of dollars.   What are "boyfriend" jeans?  It has to do

T he Olive Tree has both a sentimental and religious significance. According to the Bible, it is believed that Jesus prayed underneath an Olive Tree in the Garden of Gethsemane after the Last Supper. This sacred tree is still in existence today. The Bible repeatedly refers to the Olive Tree as a symbol of peace, fertility, and prosperity. In the story of Noah's Ark, a branch from an Olive Tree was brought back to the Ark by Noah's Dove symbolizing peace. Also, on Palm Sunday, pilgrims carry Olive Wood branches commemorating the Lord's entry into Jerusalem. Thus, the Olive Tree became a dominant symbol of the Holy Land. From the Olive trees, you get this great striated wood. The rich color and interesting veins are characteristic of the beautiful Bethlehem Olive Wood. The natural swirl and contrast of the Olive Wood grain will draw your mind. After the olive tree is trimmed her branches are ke

How I Wear MY PEACE of jewelry - Tribal Horn Pendant

Tribal Horn Pendant from Nepal. I love this PEACE. I just made. The pendant is from Nepal capped  in antiqued brass casing, hanging from African brass beads. Once I found this great pendant, I had to know about it. Tribal Horn jewelry is quite common. Words to describe these pendants - organic and natural. I still did not understand what made a piece of jewelry organic. Well here is the answer.  "The dictionary defines the word organic to mean objects that are “of, relating to, or derived from living organisms”. Jewelry that fits under this term would include wood, bone, horn and ivory. This pendant is part of a horn and carved ito the shape of a tooth. It's very common to I am not sure if it's buffalo or carabao.  The tooth shape symbolizes for Nepal power and defence. If you want to learn the history of Horn jewelry this is a pretty interesting Bone and Horn Simple Adornments Since MY PEACE of jewelry isn't bough
