WO-MANNEQUINs Jewelry Display

Image
I really like working with my hands, so I started making my own jewelry display mannequins, which I call WO-MANNEQUINs. Get it? Combine Woman and Mannequin and get WO-MANNEQUIN! Ok, it's kind of corny. Anyway, here are a few pics with my MY PEACE of JEWELRY displayed (of course) on them. WO-MANNEQUIN - bust WO-MANNEQUIN - bust http://www.etsy.com/shop/Zeedubya

Necklace in Progress - Bib Necklace?!?! - YES

Image
The latest MY PEACE of JEWELRY is in process. Below are the glass beads I am combining with the three strands of oval beads displayed above. I've decided to design a bib-style necklace. Bib style means a statement being displayed on your chest, wherein it can partially to completely cover one's chest - like a baby's bib. Almost finished! http://www.etsy.com/shop/Zeedubya

I love Berber - not Bieber! (LOL!)

Image
You might ask or you might not but I was asking myself what exactly what is Berber? I am asking this question because I started working on a new necklace a few days ago. It does not look like much yet but it's going to be fabulous! I am imagining it being a little bit longer than a choker, 3 rows of the brown oval beads spaced with silver disc beads with the BERBER coins dangling from the last row of beads. So, in order to better describe MY PEACE, I am researching where the hell did these coins come from. So that is how the question came to be. Berber is an ethnic group, which originally inhabited Morocco and North Africa. Berbers have lived in Africa since the earliest recorded time. References date back to 3000 BC. Berber is derived from the Roman term for barbarians. Berbers are non-Arabic tribes. Berbers, just as most other peoples in the world, easily blend in with other people. (Now this I did not know - ok I did not know any of this). Berber people are comprised of Europea...

MY PEACE got me a HUG!

Image
What I love about jewelry is a PEACE can look different on each person. The other day I was taking photographs of MY PEACEs during my lunch break at work. These kids, (they were actually teenagers, but kids to me) were skateboarding in the area. I had my tripod set up and was taking pics of my hand stamp cuffs. Here are some photos. While I was taking the photos one of the guys came over and asked what was I doing. I told him that I make jewelry and sell it on Etsy. He said "Awww that's cool!". He started looking at my cuffs and said that he really liked them and asked how much did they cost. I told him $15 each, wherein he replied, "I only have $10." I was astounded! I asked him, "You want to buy one?!?" He said he wanted to buy and give to a friend. I thought that was really cool. Anyway, I was so flattered, I asked him if he would take a few pics wearing a cuff. He did. Here are the photos. After taking the photos (took maybe two minutes), I gave hi...

MY PEACEs go with me everywhere

Image
I was intending on taking new photos of MY PEACEs outside but it's Friday. What do I do sometimes on Friday? I have pizza and wine. The waitress wanted to see MY PEACEs. I had my new camera, which I really want to learn how to use the various settings. What better way to practice taking photos in low light. With my Canon PowerShot SX120IS set to an ISO of 1600, and an aperture of 2.8, I got these photos. Not too bad. It was really dim in the place. I only had two glasses of red wine and 3/4 of a mini-meat pizza :).

NEW Mannequin!

Image
First of all, I got my new camera and I love it! It's a Canon SX120IS. The photos of the finished mannequin, I took yesterday with my NEW camera. Anyway, besides making MY PEACE of JEWELRY jewelry, I make mannequins using grocery bags using paper mache' method. The mannequins can be used to display almost anything from jewelry, scarves, hats and t-shirts. I've sold a few on my etsy site. This latest mannequin, I combined the bust with a head. See an earlier post for the other three mannequins: HEAD n' TORSO, TORSO and BUST. This mannequin I call HEAD n' BUST. I gotta admit, I was trying to make a "pretty" woman, but I did not succeed. She's pretty ugly. Remember that line from the movie The Color Purple? "You show is ugly!" But hey! It's practical and will divinely display anything. You got to give me credit for reusing garbage bags! You are not going to find anything like this on the web. This is my first HEAD n' BUST mannequin. As I...
