I've already posted one tutorial about How to Make a Mannequin out of paper, paste and patience. It's been 3 years since that post. For kicks, I thought I'd make a new post just to see how much I've aged over the years. Ha! Besides me getting older, nothing else has changed. I still make each MANNEQUIN with the same materials. 1. paper bags 2. wallpaper paste 3. patience 4. time Now, when I decided to make this post,  I was already in the process of making another TORSO. I've sold quite a few on Etsy with great feedback . I started taking pictures after making one layer over my original MANNEQUIN I let it dry and now I'm cutting the form from the original MANNEQUIN After cutting the form, then I separated from the original MANNEQUIN Here is the form, front and back Next, need to close the back with tape Using cardboard to close the bottom and start adding layers with paper mache...

Agate and Ethiopian Bead Necklace featuring African brass pendant I redid this necklace. Here is what I originally made back in June It's a little different.  I removed the brass Rolo chain in between the agate strands  and added this lovely African pendant African Trade Brass Pendant made by the Baule tribe located in Ghana.  Using the lost wax technique, where wax is rolled into thin strips  which are formed into coils or woven into meshes.  A repeating feature throughout Baule Beads  is the regular parallel grooves that run throughout each of the beads.  Next is the sides and back of the necklace.  These are round white metal Ethiopian beads. Each bead is individually made. Finally the brown beads. I'm guessing they are Agate beads.  I love the striations. See how no two beads are alike? I love this PEACE! Ok, I love all MY PEACEs. MY latest PEACE that I made here features chunky Turquoise HEISHI (pronounced Hee-shee) beads hanging from a chunky brass Rolo Chain     What is heishi? Heishi beads originally come from the Navajos, a Native American tribe from the Southwest. Heishi means shell and in the past, referred to pieces of shell that have been drilled and hand rolled or ground into bead shapes and strung as necklaces.       What I like about this necklace, is it can be paired with other necklaces for a pretty nice bohemian look   I paired it with one of my multi-strand, various Link Chain Necklaces Available on Etsy   I paired it with a simple Rolo Chain         Necklace available on Etsy   Handmade Jewelry & Mannequins by Zalina
