I work in Westwood, (Los Angeles), California at UCLA.
In the heart of Westwood, there is the Mildre E. Mathias Botanical Garden
that I just discovered. If you ever in LA, you need to visit.
It's like being in the woods in the middle of the city.
this garden maintains a large botanical collection,
with plant specimens from all over the world, including tropical and subtropical

Like entering a sanctuary
