MY (new) PEACE of jewelry - OM, OM, OM Necklace
I'm not a very religious person, but I am spiritual and
do like the basic messages of Buddhism and Hinduism.
Even though I did not know the symbolism of this amulet,
I was drawn to it.
It's a lady with several hands riding on a tiger
In my research, I've discovered,
the symbol represents positive feminine energy and power.
She is goddess Durga, who symbolizes the divine forces (positive energy)
known as the divine shakti (feminine energy/power)
The word "durga" means fort or a place that is protected and thus difficult to reach.
Durga, protects by destroying forces negative energy and vices, i.e.,
arrogance, jealousy, prejudice, hatred, anger, greed and selfishness).
Back of amulet is the OM symbol

Lovely ideas, practical and poetic spiritual concepts, and a very lovely Zalina wearing her work.
ReplyDelete(Comforting thoughts here ... I'm feeling the effects of the events in Oklahoma City pretty keenly tonight. Just too close to home and a huge human costs.
Thanks for the balm.)
Awww...Jan. You are definitely in my thoughts. I'm glad you and your family are fine. It's a reminder, we have to enjoy every moment. My thoughts and prayers are with the families in OK.
DeleteIt's a beautiful necklace, with so many beautiful messages. My husband has read a lot about Buddhism, and one phrase I always remember is Practice Contentment. It's good to be reminded of these things, especially when we have more good fortune than many people in the world.
ReplyDeleteYou are so right, Val. I try to "practice" all of them, happiness, self love, kindness...I must be honest, it's a struggle, that is why I like making the cuffs because they are great reminders for me. It seems the grass is always greener on the other side, but it's not. It's green on each person's side, we just have to appreciate our own grass. If you know what I mean. :)
DeleteHi, Zalina. So nice to meet you. Thank you for stopping by and leaving a comment.
ReplyDeleteI love your outfit, the necklace and it's message.
Love the necklace--I need a lot more om in my life! Just can't seem to do my yoga/meditation enough lately. :~(
ReplyDeleteI know it's a lot easier said than done. In my head is constantly whirling, but I am aware I am responsible for me. It does not mean I've accomplished being ZEN. Still tryin' :)
DeleteThe necklace is divine dear Zalina! It looks so beautiful and guess it can be combined with nearly every outfit! You look adorable wearing it!!! xxxx Tani

I love this necklace and the symbolism, Zalina. My Dad always used to say, when asked "how are you?", "I'm a tiger!", and I use the imagery of a tiger inside me to boost my confidence. Love to see a woman riding one! Thanks for sharing with Vis Monday xoxo
ReplyDeleteIt's a great reminder. Thanks for having Visible Mondays. I really do look forward to them.
