NATURAL HAIR JOURNEY  1 Month Update - Video #3   I've joined the natural hair community. Since wearing braids for 20 years, I finally decided last month to go completely natural. Took out the extensions for good! It's been an eye-opening experience. I hid behind my braids because I was afraid people wouldn't accept me with short, kinky-curly hair. The first week was rough. I got some positive reactions and definitely some negative reactions. A colleague asked if I was sick and a friend said he liked me better with long hair, but I don't care. I am not doing this to please anyone else but me. In the past month, it's been a mental battle to stay positive and patient. I have my good days and bad days, where I like my hair and days I don't. I intend to keep my promise to myself to not use heat (blowdrying, curling iron nor rollers), no combing and no brushing to my hair for one year. My Natural Hair Journey continues. My first shampoo in 25 years. For 25 years I've worn braids without taking them all out at once. Finally, I've gotten rid of the braids and here is a video documenting my first wash and two-strand twist-in. My hair is damaged and unhealthy. My first two-strand twist is not pretty, but I plan to bring my hair back to being healthy!  I will not use any heat, in other words, no blowdrying and  not combing nor brushing my hair for one year.  Follow my Natural Hair Journey Come back to see my next video for an update! Living in Southern California is expensive Living in Santa Monica, California is even more expensive Living alone in Santa Monica is even more, more expensive With it being expensive, I had to be creative about how I furnished my apartment; my studio apartment that is I refused to give up color, art and designated areas in my studio apartment In my main room, I've divided it with a floor divider into my bedroom and living room To create my living room, I used hardware from Home Depot, reclaimed items from items left in my alley and materials purchased from Bed, Bath Beyond.
